When the number of articles on a website grow rapidly, it soon becomes a challenge to make them readily available. You can use numerous latest news modules, and menu items to list the articles, and they work great up to a point. Enter another great component and module, Blogcalendar, this time from Justo de Rivera.  It lists all the articles on your website by date.

Blog Calendar parametersIf you want only the listing of the articles, you can install the component, create a new menu item, and set all the parameters in the menu itself.  Your options include:

  • Showing articles written on a specific date
  • Limiting the articles by Section and Category ID

You can see all the parameters in the picture on the right.

If you also want a calendar view of your articles, a la WordPress, you can also install the module. It has the same basic options as the Component/menu item, and can even create a listing like the Component. And it can also be linked to specific Sections and Categories, which makes it very versatile.

Only problem I had, was that the date-display of the calendar did not show the right number of articles on a specific day (it only showed "1 article on this day"), but when clicked, it did display all the articles created on that day.

There is a short Wiki at Joomla! Extentions Directory where you can get information on the installation and styling options.
