Joomla! is currently on version number 1.5.18 (and I will not elaborate on the problems we have all had with 1.5.16 and 1.5.17!).
But rather than uploading the patch files via ftp, get the Joomla! Update Manager. It is quick and works very well on the sites that I have tested it.
I have about 200 other free extentions (and tools) that I have used on various websites, that can be downloaded on my Download page. Feel free to download them - register first, it won't cost you anything! - and test them on your site (at your own risk obviously!).
